Variation is the key to keeping things exciting amongst friends. So I suggest a potluck picnic to really kickstart a great Saturday afternoon get together amongst mates. The rule of thumb with potluck is that there are no rules in terms of food or beverages to bring. Just delegate who wants to bring what (unless you want 5 plates of brownies and a carton of beer). You can decide if there's a theme, colour orientation or flavour sensation you are going for, and there you have it, you're ready for your potluck picnic .

There are numerous websites that provide recipes about different food you can provide and pending on the size of the group you're catering for you can find delicious dishes that are sure to impress everyone!

One of my favourite places on the Gold Coast is Pratten Park , in Broadbeach. It's centrally located between the beach and shopping. If there are kids involved, there's even a seaside playground thrown into the mix. With tables, public amenities and shelter, you really are given opportunity to enjoy an entire day here with friends.

So, why not give your friends a run for their money in the cookery stakes, and turn heads with a feast fit for kings that everyone can be a part of.
