Budding blacksmiths, milliners and wood turners should head down to Toowoomba in February. Mini workshops in these traditional crafts and some 40 in total are part of the Have A Go Festival at the Cobb Co Museum. The annual hands on Festival is a celebration of traditional skills and crafts and is the only festival of its kind in Australia.



Experts and artisans in a wide variety of 40 traditional arts and crafts will be on hand to teach and encourage newcomers of all ages of their art and skills.



'Step Up and Have A Go' at making stick furniture or turn your hand to pottery, weaving or lacemaking. Try your hand at glass gilding, copperfoiling, jewellery making or the delicate art of glass beading. There are mini-workshops in felting, leathercraft and sugarcraft. There's even guidance on how to make your own veggie garden.



Be part of the audience and watch demonstrations as diverse as airbrush art, wheel righting beekeeping, rope making and soap making.



In the 'Kids Have A Go' area children can get hands on at making their own toys and have their face painted.

The Have A Go! Festival, is on over the weekend of 21-22 February 2015 from 9.30am-4pm at the Cobb Co Museum, 27 Lindsay Street Toowoomba, Qld 4350.

Admission is $10 per person with extra costs to take part in the mini-workshops.

For 2015 there is a new addition to the programme with 'Have A Taste' on Saturday 21 February from 4pm-8pm. The evening will be a chance to taste and enjoy the wonderful flavours of the Toowoomba region with the makers of gourmet food, wine and beer passing on their secrets and their passion for their produce. There will be plenty of tasting opportunities.



Regional producers confirmed include Chalala Micro Bakery , Jim's Jerky, Amanda's Fudge Factory, Apthorpe Farm, Bunnyconnellen , and Paddock to Potager . There will be also be locally produced honey, gelato and fermented food on hand.

Entry to Have A Taste! is FREE. Gourmet food and drinks are available to purchase.
