A must, if you like modern country kitchen
The Haus, which is located in the heart of Adelaide Hills, directly at the Main Street of picturesque Hahndorf, can be best described as Modern Country. One of the latest additions to Hahndorf's restaurant scene offers a casual cafe, an elegant bar and a comfortable restaurant. The interior exudes a cosy modern ambience, a good contrast to the rustic charm of the historic city. The wooden furnishings are both classic and contemporary and giving the place a pleasant atmosphere. At the front of the restaurant there is a very nice patio with plenty of space. This fantastic location is because of its size ideal for functions of all kinds.
The Haus brings something new into the small city of Hahndorf by featuring an extensive tapas-style menu to go along with crusty pizzas made from fresh local produce. Nevertheless, the German influence cannot be overlooked. On the menu you will find also char-grilled Kasseler, Vienna & Kransky Sausages with Sauerkraut and Slow Cooked Juicy Pork Hock. A good alternative to "Hahndorf Inn" and other restaurants that specializes in German style cuisine.
All in all, the portions are huge. The staff is friendly and obliging and serves you at your table. The food is superb and prepared with fresh ingredients. And the best of all, the prices are really fair and reasonable. If you want to be a frequent guest to The Haus, you can join the club "Haus Mates" and benefit from many additional advantages.
My personal experience: We like to visit this place especially at lunch time. After visiting one or two of the spectacular cellar doors in Adelaide Hills, we take a break on the patio, sip a glass of white wine and order our favourite meal.
My favourite meal: The House Rustic Pizza "Chilli Prawn" (lemon & garlic, young spinach, oregano, rocket & cheese) with a garden side salad
