Brunch at Hash E8
There are few things in the world that make me happier on a Sunday morning than a really good brunch. I mean it, very few.
I recently agreed to meet an old friend for lunch in London and was expecting just the standard sandwich, burger, salad style affair. Forgettable food, edible but boring.

Beets and Sweets - Sweet potato, beetroot and kale
After my one hour 30 minute commute into the city from Essex, I was so relieved to find that we were actually eating somewhere a little different, somewhere with a twist.
Hash E8 is a little unassuming little café in East London serving up delicious breakfasts and brunches, and it is officially the new love of my life where food is concerned.

Buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup
Both my friend and I actually spent 15 minutes deciding on what to order, changing our minds and eventually coming to the conclusion that one item was nowhere near enough.
We needed an order of pancakes each
and three different side dishes between us. It was impossible to actually choose between them.

French toast
The menu has a great selection of foods influenced by American and British cuisine. We decided on buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup, a side of Beets and Sweets (beetroot, sweet potato and kale), breakfast potatoes (fried potatoes served with a garlic dressing) and French toast.
My friend even heard the table next to us commenting on the vast amounts of food we had ordered. We didn't care though, we had all the carbs at our table and we were happy.
Usually a catch up lunch is more about the actual catching up than it is about the food, but this was just the perfect balance of both.

Breakfast potatoes
Hash E8 is as laid back as you can get from a café, at least that's what it was like on Sunday. We sat for an entire three hours catching up on life and no one rushed us out of the door or bothered us in that classic way only a waiter or waitress knows how, by interrupting the flow of a conversation every 15 minutes to that check everything is ok.
If you're looking for a new brunch bar then Hash E8 is a serious contender.
