In a residential Rozelle road, you will find Harvest restaurant. The restaurant has a cosy vibe with a no-frills attitude. Everything on the menu is vegetarian and includes vegan, gluten-free and Low FODMAP (a temporary diet which restricts fermentable carbs) options. However even if you are without dietary restrictions, the food here is fresh, wholesome and hearty, and will agree with many palates.

First up, the entrees. We went for the Twice Baked Goats Cheese Souffle and the Pecan Brussels Sprouts. The souffle was served ramekin-less, and therefore was slightly denser than expected, but by no means diminished from the taste. It was served with a drizzle of delicate lemon myrtle sauce that was just sweet enough to balance the savoury souffle.

The slightly crispy pan-fried brussels sprouts were, well nothing like the mushy vegetables my mum used to expertly over boil (sorry mum). They could have done with an extra splash or two of balsamic vinegar, but they were delicious all the same. Depending on your love of brussels, having a whole plate of them for a starter could be rather monotonous. Luckily Mr Man is more than happy to share dishes, and the souffle and sprouts were an excellent pairing.

Mains came in the form of an Aubergine Tower and Spinach & Sweet Potato Gnocchi. The tower was constructed from layers of aubergine, goats cheese, red capsicum and sweet potato. What really set it off was the sweet yet tart plum and tomato glaze, which doused the structure and was similar to something you'd find smothered across a lamb roast.

The gnocchi could have easily slotted on the menu for a non-vegetarian restaurant. The dish was made up of four large dumpling size balls, rather than individual bite-size pieces. Made from predominately sweet potatoes mixed with spinach and soaked in a light garlic cream sauce topped with parmesan, I had to control myself from eating more than my fair share.

Not normally one for dessert, I was persuaded by the third-course offerings, and they didn't fail to disappoint. The raw Chocolate Cherry Tart had a moist crust with a light and airy filling, which wasn't too rich. The tart did have a strong coconut essence, which may not be to everyone's taste.

The Three Chocolate Terrine was perfect for chocolate lovers who want it all. A mix of milk, dark and white chocolate infused with complementary orange, coffee and honey made every mouthful an explosion of flavours.

Currently, there is a COVID-19 menu with the option of either 2 courses for $40, or 3 courses for $55. It's not just the food that is fantastic value, a bottle of Shiraz only set us back $25. Bargain.

Any preconceived ideas you may have about vegetarian food put them aside and give Harvest a try because it is more than just a good vegetarian restaurant, it is a damn good restaurant!
