Last year a friend and I participated in the inaugural 6km Harvest Run event and we had such a great time running in the event, and spending the rest of the day exploring the stunning Yarra Valley that we've both signed up for the longer challenge this year and can't wait. In 2016 we both managed to walk away with 3rd place in male/female events, but we'll be happy just to take in the beautiful scenery this year as we wind our way past TarraWarra Estate, Zonzo Estate and Yarra Track Wines vineyards towards our destination of Yarra Glen.
There are two fantastic distances to enter. The long 13km course, which is a point-to-point run from Healesville to Yarra Glen (which includes a return bus transfer in the cost of entry), and a 5.5km short course, which is an out and back run/walk from the Yarra Glen Racing Club.
Afterwards we decided to make a day of it and enjoy the beautiful Allowyn Gardens in Yarra Glen, which you can read more about here....and because it's next door to the Yarra Valley Choclatrie it would've been a shame to miss out on a Madagascar Vanilla Bean ice cream. YUM.
