This inaugural Central Coast festival will showcase farms and businesses among the mountains and valleys from Mangrove Mountain to Wyong, from Somersby to Peats Ridge. Visitors will have the chance to pick pecans, dig for potatoes, and harvest your own citrus. Organic veggie patches will be open for the public to browse and learn growing techniques and tips. Plus, bush tucker talks, 'country cooking classes' in how to make the perfect scone, or pickling tips and tricks will be available.
There will be a spectacular 'running of the horses', where over 200 animals will make a rush for the yards, live music will be provided, and everyone will have the opportunity to chat to the local farmers. This is a hinterland full of hardworking local producers who love their land and beasts, care for their environment and will be delighted to share and showcase the fruits of their labour.
There will be plenty of parking at each event. You can stay the night and enjoy the entire weekend of art and activities or just come for a day trip - the Peats Ridge turn off is only about 30 minutes north of Hornsby. Check out their website for a full schedule of events.
