A new wave of excitement is rising at the legendary Apollo Theater as the Harlem Healthy Soul Festival draws near. Harlem's top FREE community event organized by The Apollo and long-time partner Coca-Cola returns for a second year with more entertainment, education and healthy tips for residents of New York City . The successful inaugural event in 2013 drew nearly 3,000 New Yorkers eager to learn more about ways to be active and healthy.

This 13 September, the Apollo building and 126th Street behind the Theater will once again be transformed into a fairground filled with family fun, live music, fitness and nutrition-based cooking demonstrations, and educational and health resources from more than 35 community partners. Here are 5 highlights of the Festival to get you excited:

1. New York Times bestselling author, Dr. Ian Smith will be hosting the Festival, providing healthy living tips and leading discussions on the local community health challenges. He is also the host of the nationally syndicated radio show Health Watcha, a co-host of The Doctors TV show and a medical contributor to The Rachael Ray Show.

2. Live performance by R&B singer Faith Evans on the Apollo main stage. The multi-platinum Grammy Award winning performer will also share her own health challenges and ways she overcame them with the festival goers.

3. Health screenings for blood pressure, BMI, HIV and hepatitis including discussions on critical health concerns like high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, obesity, diabetes and childhood asthma from community organizations like Harlem Hospital Center, William F. Ryan Community Health Center, Harlem Congregations for Community Improvement, Harlem United, Ki Energy Wellness Center, Iris House and many others.

4. Meet with Dr. John M. Palmer, Clinical Psychologist and Director of Community Affairs and Diversity at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine as well as health advisor for the Festival.

5. A wide range of family activities from organisations like Harlem Children's Zone, Sparkle Tiger Face Painting, Kenny J Line Dancing, Abada-Capoeira NYC, Harlem Seeds, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Harlem YMCA, Fabulous Face Painting, Harriet Tubman Zumba Fitness, NY Knicks and many more.
