Take a flight of fancy at the Harden Kite Festival
Harden Kite Festival
It's not often the collective wish would be for a windy day but the Harden Kite Festival makes windy days fun. The annual festival is held at the Harden Picnic Racecourse in the Hilltops region, an easy drive from Canberra. Entry is just $2 (yep, you read that right) and there are free activities including music, markets, kids activities and food. And of course, the opportunity to decorate and fly some kites!
There are some pretty amazing kites on display including huge kites in a mind-boggling variety of shapes and colours - you might even get to see pigs fly! The festival is a great opportunity to experience some country hospitality and support a small town near Canberra. You can even multi-task and snap some amazing canola fields along the way!
This year's Harden Kite Festival runs from 10am - 5pm on 12 October.
