Want to make a snowball? Build a snowman and deck him out with some personality? You don't have to drive out to the mountains to enjoy the snow this year because you can come to the Docklands instead.

Harbourtown has an Ice Age 4 Snow Area set up outdoors for kids and families to enjoy. The snow is most popular with kids, but we will understand if their parents jump right in there with them to help out.

Best of all, entry is free, but there are a few rules to all this chilly fun:

Ages 4 to 12 allowed

Under 4 years of age, must be accompanied by an adult

It is an unsupervised area, so parents must keep an eye on their kids (throwing snow is not allowed)

Habourtown is not responsible for any injuries children may sustain.

This snow play area is located along Studio Lane within the shopping centre. It is a great day out when the sun is shining and there is not too much of a winter chill out; although, you don't want it to be too warm or else all that lovely snow will start to melt.

This fabulous winter wonderland is surrounded by shops and cafes so you can relax by browsing clothing stores or having a nice hot cocoa or coffee after you get cold and tired from all your fun in the snow. The shops have great discounts, which means that with the money you saved by not spending any on the snow play area you can treat yourself to some great bargains.

Not far away is the Medibank Ice House . where you can indulge in some more ice cold fun by buying tickets to skate. The ice house has a large public rink that pumps out catchy tunes but be sure to check for the public access times. You can also sign up for lessons if you need to brush up on those skating skills.

Harbourtown is open most days from 10 am to 6 pm, but be sure to check the website for any updates on times and events. Bring your kids for some charming winter memories before this chilly season passes us by and the snow disappears.
