Hike like a Harbourmaster
The Harbourmasters walking trail hugs the coastline from Horseshoe Bay around to Knights Beach Port Elliot. It begins with a steep incline from the Port Elliot Surf club building but it soon becomes an easier gradient to manage.

The beginning of the path.

The breathtaking views start from the beginning and there are plenty of rest stops and seats along the path to take in the stunning seascape.

It is not uncommon to see a seal at the breakwater rocks so it's worthwhile stopping to take in the view.

Walking further around the headland you can see the coastline to the left taking in Middleton and on towards Goolwa. Doing the walk at anytime of the year is easy but on stormy days it can be spectacular watching waves crashing onto the rocks,

The walking trail is popular on any day.

The next bay you will come to is Green Bay, where steps lead down to the beach and up the other side to meet the main path again or you can stay on the path which curves around the bay. The walk is also a great way to exercise your dog.

Continuing around the next headland will take you to Knights Beach a popular spot for body boarders. Another set of steps will take you down to the rocks to watch the action and if you're lucky you may see a pod of dolphins.

You can also venture onto the beach here or retrace you steps or follow the road you come to, Merrilli Place, back to the park that overlooks Horseshoe Bay, with the Harbourmaster Cottage on the corner.
