If you're looking for a place to relax with an icy cold beer and enjoy a bit of true Northern Beaches culture or tuck into some of the best food on the peninsula, then you can't go past the Harbord Beach Hotel.
Locals know it as the "Harbord Hilton", and it's been an iconic drinking hole for over 80 years. But it's not just the cold beer and great food. It's the feeling of being at home – no matter where you're from.
Just a stone's throw from popular Freshwater beach, The Harbord Hilton is a great place to park yourself after a day of surfing or sun worshipping. Every day of the week, there's something happening. A pool competition on Mondays and a badge draw. Tuesday is trivia night with the chance of winning $1000. Wednesday is monster meat raffle night, and I can attest to the joy of once winning three of these on one night. (I think the record still stands) Thursdays and Fridays you can enjoy live music from 8 pm. Everyone loves a happy hour and there are plenty of those. On weekdays between 5 and 7 pm, and Saturday from 1 till 3 pm, you can pick up a schooner of local draught beer or a champagne for under $4. Also on weekends, there are general happy hours between 3 and 8 pm.
The Harbord Hilton is family friendly, with a lovely covered beer garden and plenty of space for the kids to run around. Freshie's Garden Bar and Grill has an extensive menu, it's very reasonably priced and always a great dining experience. The Giant Seafood Platter is a mountain of succulent super-fresh seafood and easily feeds 3 people.
