Perth's Best Family-friendly New Year Party
New Year celebrations, like those of Christmas, are something that many of us look forward to with eagerness and anticipation each year. However, while waiting up until midnight and watching spectacular firework displays can be fun for the grown-ups, even the most excitable young children can find that the late night drags on a little too long, with tears and tantrums spoiling the fun for everyone. Fortunately, Perth Zoo has solved this common dilemma, and this year they're once again holding their wonderful tailor-made-for-families New Year celebration - Happy Zoo Year.

Beginning at 5.00pm on Wednesday, December 31st, this year's Happy Zoo Year celebration will feature an evening of great family entertainment until the big New Year count-down at the special kids' time of 9.00pm. Add the animals (they get to stay up late too, until 7.00pm) plus all the other regular zoo attractions, and you have an unforgettable night out that everyone will be talking about for years to come.
Happy Zoo Year 2015 has an awesome line-up of entertainment, beginning with Explosive Dance from 6.30 until 7.00pm – a colourful and dynamic stage show, featuring singing, dancing and loads of other cool stuff. It's also interactive, so the performers don't simply stay on stage but act as roving artists, dancing throughout the audience, at various points in the show.
Following the performance by Explosive Dance there will be a fabulous high-energy show by Polynesian dancers, Hula Magic, who will perform until 7.30pm. The dancers' groovy interpretation of traditional performances from the Cook Islands, Tahiti, New Zealand, Hawaii, Samoa and Nieu, accompanied by live percussion log drums will be sure to get the kids – and probably quite a few grown-ups as well - dancing in the aisles.
From 7.40 until 8.00pm, and then again, at 8.55 until 9.20pm, Band Dakota will be playing an eclectic mix of classic rock and soul. Suitable for all ages, this six-piece cover band features a combination of male and female vocals and harmonies, lead guitar, keyboards, drums and bass. If you're not dancing by the time they're on stage, you definitely will be once they start performing.
Finally, from 8.16pm until 8.45pm, talented brother and sister magicians, Adam and Selina – Masters of Illusion, will be entertaining the crowds. This award-winning duo fuses elements of pop culture, fashion, musical performance, illusion and fun to create a unique magic performance that has astounded and excited over 30 million people worldwide. It's family-friendly entertainment at its best. The kids will love it – and so will you.
In a nutshell, this year's Happy Zoo Year, as always, promises to be a great night out for the whole family. The grounds of Perth Zoo are some of Western Australia's most beautiful, so why not pack a picnic and enjoy them, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature? Tickets for this year's event are $47.00 for adults, $38.00 for seniors and concession card holders, $26.00 for children 4 to 16 years of age and $14.00 for children 1 to 4 years old. This fabulous family event sells out every year so it's strongly recommended that you avoid disappointment by getting in early to book your tickets.
