Melbourne has so much to offer. I love experiencing new places and events and sharing them with you.
I have an interest in gluten free, vegan and vegetarian diets so I will let you know if you these can be catered for in my reviews.
Happy River Cafe, makes me happy. It is such a positive place. Yes, you can bring your children. Yes, they will be entertained and they can play in the grass. Yes, you can bring your dogs and they too can play on the grass. Yes, the service is with a smile. Yes, the food is good and fresh. Oh, and yes, it is right next to the river, the Marybrynong.
The Happy River cafe is situated right next to the Footscray Art Centre, which in itself is of interest. During the week, I notice that lunch patrons include workers from the nearby building and manufacturing businesses as well as mothers with their children. On weekends, the clientele is a little different with people enjoying breakfasts or coffees in the sun or inside. The vibe is relaxed.
I love the food. It's simple. The specials change regularly, but there is plenty on the menu to chose from anyway. They do the best tempeh wrap with sweet chilli, and I don't usually like tempeh! Coffees are great, and there is always a selection of sweet treats to accompany your beverage. They do herbal teas too, and milkshakes.
This is so family friendly, they have books and games to occupy the little ones. There are rugs to use, if you want to sit on the grass. Just place one of the pretend grass cubes on it to mark your 'table number' and you will be served.
