Happy Days are yours and mine at the Happy Days Diner
Step back in time at the Happy Days Diner located in Upper Coomera. You'll be warmly greeted by proud owners, the Fonz, (Donna Michel) and Marilyn Monroe, (Kristy Blackwell) of this 1950s American style diner. The first things that might catch your eye may not be the menu, but the décor. Then again, it could be the Pink Ladies serving up those hot dogs and burgers with a side order of fries and shakes.

First thing you should do is hit the Jukebox (remember the Fonzie touch) and check out what the 50s music scene was all about. Scan the room for any other rockers. Yes, you'll find some die-hard fans dressed for the occasion. Make a claim for your favourite spot – usually the private booths are taken for some necking rehearsals between mouthfuls of Chilli Cheese Fries, for some real steamy kissing.

Or, if you've brought your dance shoes, head out the back patio for some moves to the live band's grooves. You can chill between songs in the corner lounge and watch re-runs of Happy Days, or Elvis movies. The atmosphere is vibrant and family friendly. Treat the kids to a real American experience. The kids menu offers Soap Box Sliders (mini burgers), Sloppy Joes (savoury mince and cheese in a bun), Mini Corn Dogs, and good ol' Chicken 'n' Chips.

The Rock 'n' Rooster Breakfast menu offers a variety of egg dishes with the Big Brekie consisting of two eggs, bacon, sausage, roast tomato, onions and hash browns. Smells out of this world, tastes even better. For something a little different, try the Hot Cakes stacked with banana, bacon and maple syrup. Yes, you heard right, BACON! Take it up with the Yanks. They love bacon on everything! Are you game to baconise your hot cakes? The Hash Stacks are home-made hash browns with roasted tomato, bacon, swiss cheese, and a poached egg, stacked to perfection. Are you salivating yet?

You haven't experienced a real hot dog til you've had an American hot dog. You can't beat a Quarter Mile with dog, cheese, fried onion, mustard and sauce, or a Chilli Dog with dog, chilli mince, cheese, and BBQ sauce. As the saying goes, 'Dawg gonnit' – in 60 seconds, and ready for a reload!

So, what's so good about the burgers? A burger's a burger, right? Not when your meat pattie is a fillet of tender, juicy steak marinated in secret herbs and spices that have you salivating at the mere smell. That's what you'll get with a Big Daddy. It has aioli, (garlic mayo) lettuce, tomatoes, beetroot, steak, bacon, cheese, homemade onion rings, caramelised onions & an egg.

Scotty's Heart Attack has double beef, double bacon, double cheese, chorizo (Spanish sausage that is to die for) & BBQ sauce. Make sure to bring the angina pills and your doctor's certificate.

The Square is for nerds who don't like meat. Just joking, it comes in a square bun. Take it up with the Fonz. What you'll get is a kumara, pumpkin & feta pattie, with lettuce, tomatoes, beetroot & homemade onion rings with roast capsicum mayo. Nibble away, little cotton tails.

Ya'll Southern Belle has a southern spiced beef pattie, bacon, cheese, lettuce & tomato with BBQ sauce.

The Fat Cat is fish of the day either grilled, or beer-battered, (not bashed with a beer bottle) tartare sauce, lettuce, tomato & onion.

The Ragin' Cajun consists of Cajun spiced chicken, lettuce, tomato, avocado, camembert cheese & roast capsicum mayo. Soooo, good!

The Buddy Holly has sweet basil and pinenut pesto infused chicken, lettuce & tomato mayo.

Have I made you hungry? Well, I've made myself hungry just writing it all down. You are guaranteed value for money, so bring a belt you can loosen because there is a lot more food on offer than I can write about, although, I was completely stuffed after my burger and cappuccino. I do have to mention that the milkshakes are out of this world, delicious, to die for, rich, creamy, and silky smooth. A joyous drinking experience! I'm still dreaming about that shake right now. Gotta get me some more!

If you really want to enjoy this 1950s American style diner, get together a group of friends to create your own 'Happy Days' memories. They cater for parties, fundraisers, trivia nights. You make all the arrangements and they'll provide the food, and ensure you have a great time. You can dine 'al fresco' at the front of the diner, inside, or out the back patio. You'll need to make a reservation for dinner bookings on: 07 5580 1180.
