Located along Magill Road in St Morris, Happy Corner Chinese Restaurant has a good range of Chinese food on their menu. The restaurant offers complimentary items such as prawn crackers to accompany your meal if you order over $25 worth of food for takeaway.

We tried their Peppercorn Duck, Chinese Mushrooms with Boy Choy, Honey Eggplant and Steamed Chicken in Hot Chilli Sauce during our visit. The Peppercorn Duck is quite unique in that the duck is marinated in peppercorn and steamed before it is fried to give it a crispy coating. While the duck was a bit tough, it still had a subtle peppery taste and a crisp, golden brown exterior. Served with the duck was sweet chilli sauce that round out the dish perfectly.

Their Honey Eggplant is a nice vegetarian twist of Honey Chicken, with slices of eggplant taking the place of the chicken. The eggplant had the right amount of bite to it with the honey sauce having the right amount of sweetness. There were also some fried pieces of wonton skins to add texture and provide contrast to the softer eggplant.

For those that prefer a more 'normal' vegetable dish, the Chinese Mushrooms with Bok Choy is a good choice. The dish had a delectable savoury taste from the Chinese Mushrooms which complemented the pieces of bok choy nicely. The amount of sauce was quite generous which contributed to the enjoyment of the dish.

Surprisingly generous for a dish which is considered to be an entrée, the Steamed Chicken in Hot Chilli Sauce was cooked to perfection and while there were some bones, it was not too hard to separate the meat from them. The chilli sauce used in the dish had a thick texture with a peanut flavour, and reminds us of the peanut sauce that goes with satay.

Ambience of the restaurant was very good with the tables spaced a good distance apart from each other. We enjoyed 25% off our total bill by using the Entertainment Book gold card.
