Most Australian children have grown up watching the ABC television show Play School in 2016, it celebrated 50 years of broadcasting. The National Museum of Australia and ABC developed the Happy Birthday Play School: Celebrating 50 Years exhibition. It's toured all around Australia, it will be on display from 27 August to 7 November, 2021 at the Western Australian Museum.


Visitors can relive their childhood memories, looking through the Round, Square and Arched windows as we bring our childhood stories alive of Big Ted, Little Ted, Humpty, Jemima, the Rocket Clock, and reminisce about our all-time favourite presenters.

Play School encourages a child to explore new experiences and learning opportunities through a simple yet clever mix of colour, stories, music, craft, fun, and laughter.

Nearly 100 presenters have appeared on Play School, the show began as an adaptation of a program that aired on BBC in 1964. But ABC's Play School outlived the BBC version, which ended in 1988.
