Happiness Hacks: 100% Scientific! Curiously Effective! - Book Review
Summary
One in six Americans is on some kind of anti-depressant. It is no surprise that everyone is looking to have more happiness. People want to know how to stop feeling stressed and to smile more.
Happiness at work
It is not about the paycheck. Doing it for the money is not going to bring you happiness.
Happy at play
Of the 13 ways to pass the time that was studied, only 6 were found to be significantly associated with feelings of happiness:
Shopping
Reading books
Cultural events
Getting together with relatives
Listening to music
Sporting events
So, make leisure a habit!
Happy in love
You are probably not having enough sex. Anthony Smith, professor of public health and deputy director of the Australian Research Center in Sex, Health, and Society, at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia, told the
New York Times that couples may need to aside time for sex just as they do for meals, work, and other activities.
Happy at home
Skip the $200.00 massage and just download an album of relaxing music. Create a relaxation room in your home that can serve as a refuge from the rest of your busy life and household, even if just for a half an hour.
Happy in health
A group of researchers sought to answer the significant question "How much exercise is enough to feel better?" Feelings of confusion, fatigue, and negative mood improved only after ten minutes of exercise.
Opinion
This book is my life story (minus the anti-depressant part).
If you feel like something is missing in your life, read the book. Even if you simply buy the used paperback copy. Very worth your while.
I give this book a
5-star rating!
