appears to be a simple oval for hire at first glance, but step a little bit further and you'll notice some native flora thriving by First Creek. It may no be as exciting as Tusmore Park, but it is an interesting place to explore.



The area has been restored so that it is a good representation of the native flora of the area, including both wetland and dryland vegetation. The project has been undertaken by the Burnside Biodiversity Volunteers, and the spot allows people to explore a weed free example of what the area would have looked like in the past. As long as you stick to the paths you can wander through the vegetation and check out the local gardens. This is not set out as some other gardens, so you will not be able to learn about the different species on show, just enjoy the sight of them.



There are no real facilities in the reserve, so you're better taking the short walk to Tusmore Park if you're looking for somewhere to have a picnic or barbecue. Even if you want to enjoy the native plants, you wont be able to set up a picnic in the reserve. Apart from the paths there is no where you could set up a picnic spot, and you wouldn't want to endanger any small seedlings. This is purely a place to take a walk and enjoy nature.



Heading out of the reserve to the attached Tusmore Oval (not to be confused with Tusmore Park that sits next door) you'll be able to enjoy the space for some ball games or training. The oval does need to be booked, so make sure you call and reserve it before you plan any events. Call 83664224 to book the oval.



This isn't the type of place that kids are likely to get excited over, but it is a nice place to check out some native fauna from the region. Thankfully for anyone looking for somewhere close by where more fun and games can be had, Tusmore Park is just a bridge crossing away. This means that you can enjoy the native vegetation, and head to the park for the playground or a spot of lunch.
