With my first grandchild now mobile and always full of beans, I've been scouting the local area for playgrounds and parks to keep the little chap amused for when he next visits. You know the drill; fresh air, sunshine, snacks and cold drinks, and then encourage them to run themselves ragged, so that they will sleep all night long. Every parent's dream, I know.

Hanover Drive Park in Alexandra Hills in the heartland of Redland City has recently undergone a major makeover. Take my advice - this is a wonderful facility that will keep the Little People amused for hours.

Firstly, yes, there are covered picnic shelters and double gas barbeques, as well as bathroom facilities, so you definitely can settle in for the day. Fresh drinking water is also on-site as well as an enclosed dog park if you're up to spoiling the four-legged members of the family at the same time.

The reserve is littered with magnificent gums that provide shade and add to the bushland flavour, and there is cover over much of the playground area also.

Let's talk about the playground equipment. Let's just say that they don't make slippery dips the way they used to. How Star Wars is this?

For the younger set, there are swings and cute climbing befitting their age and skill set and I'm sure this area will keep my poppet occupied for hours.

For young teens, there is an area with hoops and another with goalposts to keep those keen on ball games busy.

Toddlers, teens, and dogs are covered with the Hanover Drive Park. Pack an esky and a good book and simply enjoy. Come on, poppet, I'm ready for you!
