At last! A new and ongoing weekly produce and food market is coming to a permanent home in popular Alma Park (East) from Saturday 1st August 2015. Hank Marvin (rhyming slang for 'starvin''!) market will feature loads of local produce and street stalls foods, a 24 metre pop up dining hall with fine and gourmet foods. There will be more than 40 stalls, including community stalls alongside the best fine food and produce Melbourne's south has to offer.

Expect to see vendors such as Polish Smallgoods handcratfed wood smoked speciality meats Uncle Smallgoods ; The Little Mushroom Co's special brand of gourmet yummy mushroom hamburgers, Trailer Made's and iconic hawker/fine food trucks

As it's East St Kilda, with its vibrant Jewish community, as you might hope, local bagels will also be on offer - from Shtetl Bagel's who do amazing wood fired, New York style bagels which will redefine your understanding of this morning fare.

Because the market will be a regular weekly event, Hank Marvin will be rotating providers, so that there is always something new and interesting for regular market-goers. Hank Marvin and Port Phillip Council are also backing local community groups who will be a feature of the market, supporting them to set-up and waiving market fees.

The market will be held from 9am to 3pm each Saturday in Alma Park East (starting 1st August), best accessed from Alma Road. There is street parking along Alma Road, though expect it to be busy. It's also a very easy tram ride, with any tram going along Chapel Street or Dandenong Road a very short walk away. Windsor Train Station is also only 5 minutes walk away. It's also a great destination for those with dogs, as the other half of Alma Park, over the railway line, is an off lead dogs park, so you can run some energy off them before taking them (on lead) to the market. And even better, Alma Park has a fantastic adventure playground, so that kids can run and explore in between magical market munching moments!
