Blacksmithing, Millinery, Silversmithing, and Glass Bead art are all part of the 2015 Hands on Workshops on offer at the Cobb Co Museum in Toowoomba. Learn from experts the many traditional crafts as diverse as Ukulele Making, Wheelwrighting, and Airbrush Art.
Beginners are catered for, along with those more experienced, and is a perfect follow up for those having 'tasted' a craft before, at the successful
Have a Go Festival.
The workshops are generally over a weekend for 1-2 days, with also a three-day Blacksmithing Project with Terry Drennan, and an intensive five-day Wheelwriting Project with Kerry Riehl, where you learn to make spokes, felloes, and a hub to complete your own 12-spoke wagon wheel.
Teen workshops run in April, with the youngsters being able to learn Blacksmithing and Jewellery Making; or in July, where they can make their own personalised instrument; try blacksmithing, silversmithing, or take a workshop on resin jewellery.
Each class is small enough so you get personal assistance. The cost for the workshops range from $205 to $380 for the weekend classes, and more for the three and five-day workshops. This includes all tools and refreshments, with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
