If you're a cheese connoisseur but have no idea about wine, join the club. I too am (was) exactly like that. It you're at all like me, it almost feels as though you're a fraud in a way, because how can someone who loves cheese so much have no idea about wine? I've personally felt this way for years and I had no clue regarding the solution. I had to do something about it, and as it happens, this workshop was a fantastic first step.
In this workshop, as per the pictures you obviously get to taste wine. I'm sure you've probably tasted wine before, but what can you say about the taste? Do you like it? What flavours do you get from it? Do you get any flavours? How do you tell them apart? Besides, what's actually in wine to begin with? How is it made? Where does it come from? How do you decide what kind of wine to buy? How should you serve wine? What type of glasses should you use to serve wine? These questions and more are answered in this workshop.
The facilitator was a lovely lady who was super friendly and made the course engaging. We even had a little set of notes to take with us that I've perused. We tasted a few different wines and had them in the correct way, which you will learn if you attend this workshop. There are separate wine and cheese pairing workshops available, but if you know absolutely nothing about wine and want to learn, this is the event for you.
Prior to this workshop, wine was like another language for me. Although the barriers aren't completely broken in the sense that I am not in love with all wines yet, I now know what to look for and how to explain the flavours a little bit better. I also know that every time I drank wine, I used to drink it incorrectly. I highly recommend this little workshop. It was well worth it for me.
Please only go if you don't know anything about wine, this is not an event for wine connoisseurs, but for those who need to learn the very basics. If you are interested in other workshops, Handpicked Wines also run masterclasses, Yoga and Wine workshops, a Watercolour and Wine workshop, wine parties and even winemakers dinners.
