Demonstrations by artists provide crafty hints
Markets have been taking place since ancient times and are named differently depending on the country of origin. Construction on the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul begun in 1455 and still today it is considered one of the world's oldest operating market. A market is defined as a place where people gather for the sale or purchase of provisions, goods and animals. Nearly every town and city has one, held mostly on weekends. Even television shows and movies depict the market place as a venue for vendors and motorcycle chases through the stalls.

This market will be showcasing work from forty local artists, designers, sculptors, crafters, potters etc. This will give you a chance to talk to these talented people about their craft; you may even receive some good tips for your own work, or perhaps purchase direct from the manufacturer on the day. Demonstrations will be given and from personal experience there is nothing better than getting your hands covered in wet clay on a wheel and making something from scratch from the gift of Mother Earth.
You are sure to get hungry from watching all the displays and especially when the smell of sausage sizzles and hamburgers come flowing past your nose. Cakes, tea and coffee are also for purchase so you can put those hunger pains at bay. There will be live music playing in the background, a pre-loved book sale and raffles.
Handmade Meets the Art's is being sponsored by Redcliffe Potters, Redcliffe Art Society, Redcliffe Little Athletes and plus the local markers presenting on the day. The event will be held at the Old Redcliffe Fire Station Grounds at 395 Oxley Avenue Redcliffe with gates opening at 9.00am and closing at 3.00pm. Entry is Free and a very entertaining day for no charge.
