Big 9th Birthday Bash - and you're invited
About the Handmade Expo and Vintage Markets The Handmade Expo opened the gates for its first market in 2008, in Ipswich. In the years since it has opened a further six markets: at Airlie Beach, Bundaberg, Cairns, Forest Hill, Rockhampton and Toowoomba. In 2014 The Handmade Expo was named the Best Handmade Outdoor Market in Australia.
The Handmade Expo and Vintage Market features exclusively Handmade/Baked/Grown products, along with a number of stalls selling vintage wares.
Handmade market makes major milestone
The ever-popular Handmade and Vintage Expo will celebrate its 9th "birthday" at Ipswich Turf Club on Saturday 19 August 8am to 1pm. Market Coordinator, Andrew van der Beek, said the market, which is held on the third Saturday of each month, had grown in popularity over the years and was a monthly "must do" for many Ipswich locals. "We've seen many markets come and go in Ipswich over the years but none has maintained the popularity and support of the community like The Handmade Expo," he said. "We opened the gates for the first time in 2008 with the goal of providing a forum for local and exclusively handmade artists, designers, bakers and talented crafts-people to showcase their talents and that remains our focus today."
A steadfast commitment to allowing only handmade products has been the point of difference for The Handmade and Vintage Expo and it's for this reason that it continues to flourish while many other local markets have come and gone.
He added, "You can buy mass produced goods at the local shopping centre or you can visit our market and speak with and purchase directly from the creator of something truly unique. Our stallholders put in endless hours of toil, love and attention to detail to refining their craft and conceiving works customers simply won't find anywhere else".
Andrew said the August market promised to be a celebration worthy of the 9th birthday milestone with a diverse range of stallholders in attendance. "We have many stallholders who have a loyal following and customers return to purchase from them every month," he said.
However, I'm always interested in adding new and different stalls to our market family and would love to hear from new stallholders who have something unique to offer our customers. Businesses can apply to attend the market via the website.
