Ceramics on show and sale from modern to historic at gallery
Mont de Lancey Historic Homestead - All Photos by Tricia Ziemer
Once again, the Mont de Lancey Historic Homestead has opened its doors with another stunning art display in their gallery. Entry is FREE and the items on display are spectacular.
The original family homestead, museum, gallery, blacksmiths and Monty's Tearooms all sit in the stunning grounds of the original acreage of the founding family. It is a beautiful homestead and tours run every day during opening hours. Right now there is also an extraordinary ceramic exhibition on from 4th of July till the 29th of July, 2018.
The artists are part of the Australasian Porcelain Art Teachers Victorian Incorporation and students. And the pieces on view are rare and beautiful examples of the highest quality ceramics. Whether you want something classy and new or nostalgic, they have a stunning variety of ceramic pieces on offer. These treasures are on sale to the public for as little as $25.
Take advantage of a browse through the museum or a guided tour of the historic homestead displayed as it used to be in ages gone by. Tour the wooden floor kitchen and see how they used to cook and store food. Then head for the blacksmith's barn. It takes you back to an enchanted time and gives you a wonderful look into Australia's historic past to when the settlers first arrived in the area.
So much to explore, tea rooms, black smith and historic homestead
The woodturners and blacksmiths are hard at work on the weekends and they sell their lovely wares as well. I have found many lovely things for my garden at this working forge. There is also the treat of viewing the vintage machinery, which the kids love.
Monty's Tearoom is a melt in the mouth must for a meal. And they are open on the weekends, as well from 10 am to 4 pm. This is a great holiday getaway for the kids as well, with lovely space to run and play and lovely spots to picnic.
They also have a stunning wedding, birthday, or anniversary reception house on the grounds. This place is a must see at any time, but it is an extra treat now with the ceramic art show on in the gallery.
The location is not that far from Melbourne, but it will feel you have escaped to the country when you arrive at 71 Wellington Road, Wandin North, 3139, as you are surrounded by beautiful rolling green lush hills.
And it is all run by passionate volunteers who will be more than happy to help in any way they can. Stop in the shop and say G'Day.
