Hamman Spa & Barber located on Chaka Road Hurlingham, Nairobi is a little hard to find from the street due to poor signage yet as its opposite Yaya Centre, you'll have some luck locating it.

The mid-size beauty parlour offers a range of services from, facials, massage, nails, waxing, body scrubs, hairdressing services and Hammam ritual. Right from the onset, the staff were friendly and offered me a seat as they explained the procedure to me. I had two therapists, Rachael and Nancy, who performed various treatments - facial, massage, pedicure and Hammam. Both therapist were courteous and performed well in their areas of expertise. "We want customers to feel the warmth when they come in and good customer service. We want them to feel at home," says receptionist, Munira.



Overall, the Beauty Parlour is stylish in the main reception/ hairdressing area but lacks some simple touches throughout. Nonetheless, the spa is clean throughout. My facial was relaxing and due to my sensitive skin, Simple products were used on me leaving my skin feeling clean and fresh, especially after the scrub and steam. My spa pedicure was relaxing and my full-body massage was exactly what I needed.

Hammam services are relatively new in Nairobi and Hammam Beauty Parlour is trying to make it a weekly habit for Kenyan due to the therapeutic benefits of the service. At only Kshs 5000, it's relatively affordable. I've experienced several Hammans, both in Kenya and abroad, and this one was a little different from the rest. My main criticism is the lack of space to lay comfortably in the steam room. The hammam ritual is designed to cleanse and scrub the skin and bring inner calm through middle eastern practices. My therapist was professional and made the experience pleasant despite the lack of space in the steam room. The complimentary hair wash and blow dry after the Hammam was welcomed and a nice touch.



tries to market to both locals and foreigners and their overall pricing is fair and accessible. Therapists Rachael and Nancy are an asset to the spa and made for an enjoyable afternoon. If you are looking for an affordable hamman ritual experience in Nairobi, definitely give this place a go.
