I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.

Halo Top have released the new flavour of Triple Chocolate Cake to their plant-based frozen dessert range. The product is vegan-friendly and dairy-free as it is made with oat milk and contains 380 calories, 20 grams of protein, and ⅓ the amount of sugar per tub compared to regular ice creams.

The triple chocolate cake flavour is the perfect antidote to one's chocolate cravings with its rich creamy dark chocolate "ice cream" hiding fudge pieces of chocolate cake within. My family really enjoyed the texture and taste of the product and were unable to tell that it was dairy-free and/or low in calories. The other plant based flavours are Chocolate Hazelnut (a cool way to get a Nutella fix) and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, which is based on a vanilla ice cream, containing pieces of cookie dough and chocolate chips.

The dairy-based Halo Top flavours are also lower in calories and sugar than comparable traditional ice creams but certainly do not lack in flavour. The website contains useful information about the products as well as some interesting recipes.

Look for the golden halo in the aisles of Coles and Woolworths when you are wanting a guilt-free sweet treat.
