As Halloween gallops towards us (end of the month), it's a good time to reflect on how we can make Halloween planet-friendly. According to
Clean Up Australia, who inspire and empower communities to clean up, fix up and conserve our environment, there are a few small tricks on how we can cut down waste and treat the kids and the planet to a good 2020
Hallowgreen. This year may not be as bad as others with restrictions in place, making it a good opportunity to educate ourselves on considerations for the planet.
See here for
Hallowgreen Ideas like getting together with other parents, friends, neighbours, and organising to buy lollies in bulk. This saves on excessive plastic packaging. Same ideas are given for costumes. Zoom with other parents you know and organise a costume swap. You'll find many great ideas via the link given - the main message is to plan ahead, so there's time to consider what's best for the planet.

It goes without saying it's not just during seasonal celebrations that we need to be aware of how and what we buy, with consideration to the environment, and sustainability.
Clean Up Australia is a good place to start. Australia's waste challenge goes far beyond one day, or one celebration. Especially now since China has barred imports of foreign waste, which has forced Australia to deal with its own growing waste problem. It seems we have a growing reputation of being the 4th highest food wasting country globally, sending over 5 million tonnes of food to landfill. Being amongst the highest users of electronics in the world, e-waste is the fastest-growing types of waste we have to deal with as well. Below is a ready list of links you can head to, to step up and do better, but first .....
