Halloween at the NY Aquarium

This Halloween, dive to the darkest depths of the ocean at the New York "A-Scarium." Beginning at noon, a variety of family friendly frights awaits visitors.
Go on a haunted "sea-fari" and experience the perils of the deep. Try counting all the razor sharp teeth in the shark tankāif you dare to get that close. Calm down in a field of jellyfish, lit with trippy lights to look something like a huge, living lava lamp. But don't be fooled by the welcoming waves of their seemingly harmless tentacles. These beauties come equipped with stingers! Blind cave fish, as white as ghosts, zoom around using elongated fins for echolocation. If they don't creep you out, than surely the eight foot long electric eel will have your hair standing on end. Even more frightening are the environmental threats facing some of these extraordinary creatures.
Emerge onto dry land for scary aquatic themed storytelling, spooky music, mask making, and, of course, candy! Tired of lighting the same old triangle-eyed jack-o-lantern year after year? Pick up some tips and tricks from an expert pumpkin carver, providing demonstrations all afternoon. Or take in The Curse of Skull Rock, an animated adventure movie about pirates with special effects (like sea spray) that jump right off the screen. As an incentive to dressing up, children under twelve gain free admission if in a wildlife costume.
The New York Aquarium is one of those sites every New Yorker has heard of, but few have actually visited. Take advantage of the Halloween festivities and treat yourself to one of the city's hidden treasures.
