Fire burn and cauldron bubble
Cool it with a baboon's blood,
Then the charm is firm and good!'%%
William Shakespeare's Macbeth
Halloween originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. This custom is observed and celebrated in several countries around the world every year on the 31 October. Today, however, Halloween has evolved and is less about the fear of ghouls and ghosts and more about dressing up in scary costumes, cutting pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns and trick-or-treating for candy treats.
Forever on the
prowl to find
fang-tastic events for my readers, here are some harrowing Halloween happenings to
sink your teeth into between the 26 October and the 2 November. For ease of reference, they are done in date order.
