A party your guests will never forget
Jack-o'-lanterns, giant plastic spiders and ghosts have taken over the city and remind us that Halloween is just around the corner. And it is this time of the year when everybody hosts a dress up party. But if you don't want your guests to wear the same old vampire or witch costume again, how about one of these dress up themes for your party?
1. Quentin Party.
Beatrix Kiddo and O-Ren Ishii from Kill Bill, Mia Wallace and Vincent Vega from Pulp Fiction and Lieutenant Aldo Raine from Inglorious Basterds – the list of cool Quentin Tarantino movie characters long. And enough to make a fun dress up theme – and great photos. You can get some of the most popular costumes on ebay, or simply make your own.
2. Masquerade Party.
Masquerade balls were cool in 15th century Venice, spread through mainland Europe in the 17th and 18th century and became popular in Colonial America as well. And today, they make for a great Halloween theme. Get your guests to wear traditional Carnival masks which you can also make yourself – or ask them to wear any mask they can think of (V for Vendetta, super heroes, celebrity masks – the list is endless.) And then guess who is who.
3. It Used to be Cool.
Remember scrunchies and pink leggings, denim vests and torn blue jeans and colourful semitransparent plastic sandals? "It used to be cool" makes a fun dress up theme and it isn't restricted to clothes, either. Dance to the music that you used to listen to as teenies and use your old collectables (Power Rangers figurines, My Little Pony toys) to decorate the house.
