If you are drumming your fingers at how to keep the kids entertained during October half term, movie companies are offering families a solution with a host of new action-packed releases for younger audiences.

Films include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3D, The Book of Life, The Maze Runner and Dolphin Tale 2. Here's a preview on what to expect.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3D is released for October half term.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles return on October 17 as they climb up from the sewers to save New York. The city has been gripped by baddie 'Shredder' and needs our lovable heroes to save the day.

This time they are in 3D for a new generation of fans, so their ninja antics are set to be even more life-like. The Paramount Pictures film has a 12A classification and stars Megan Fox, Whoopi Goldberg and Will Arnett.

Another movie release with high anticipation is The Maze Runner, starring Dylan O'Brien. It's a sci-fi thriller about a group of teenage boys who find themselves trapped in an enclosed environment, where the only escape is through a maze infested with deadly creatures.

If you are a parent looking for films to suit a slightly younger audience, then there is the release of Dolphin Tale 2, which is in cinemas from October 3.

The film follows on from Dolphin Tale, featuring the same team who saved the dolphin called Winter in the first movie.

The storyline moves on a few years at Clearwater Marine Hospital when Winter's surrogate mother, the very elderly dolphin Panama, has passed away, leaving Winter without the only poolmate she has ever known.

Starring Harry Connick Jr, Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman, we follow the team as they battle against time to find Winter a new pool-mate or lose him to another aquarium.

This Warner Bros film - a U certificate suitable for all children - is set to be full of animal magic and love from start to finish.
