Half Moon Bay Dog Beach (Mount Eliza)
When it comes to great beaches Melbourne is a lucky city in the Lucky Country. Beaches range from iconic tourist locales like
Dendy Street Beach and vibrant seaside spots like
Mordialloc , to beaches like
Elwood that provide a great view to the city and over Port Phillip Bay from on high.
Melbourne has so many good beaches we've just about run out of names for all of them. For this reason, this fantastic dog beach on the Mornington Peninsula - not to be confused with the great but different
Half Moon Bay sitting between
Sandringham Beach and
Black Rock Beach , is well worth a visit whether you've heard the name before or not.
Though Melbourne already has some great spots to take your pooch for a play - and even along the coast with the
Brighton Dog Beach just 20 minutes from the Melbourne CBD - this spot at Mornington is a great location if you're outside of the city, on holiday, or just keen to take a day trip to somewhere scenic.
Alongside the beach itself being a terrific mix of sand and shallows (so a dog can wade without encountering much trouble) there are also long flowing roads surrounding the Bay, so those who
love a good jog may wish to bring their pup along for a post-swim run.
With Canadian Bay Beach just across the carpark (and a beach that is itself terrific for a swim with the kids), a big shopping centre just up the road, and easy access to Melbourne via the Nepean Highway, this is a spot easy to spend a couple of hours or even a couple of days on a getaway.
Half Moon Bay Dog Beach is a wonderful destination for anyone on two or four legs.
