A Children's Favourite
Hairy Maclary for the uninitiated is a much loved children's book series. An upcoming exhibition will feature this little dog and the children's books by author Lynley Dodd. This exhibition has been touring the country, and now it is Adelaide's turn to enjoy. Be one of the first to see the exhibition, which features over 50 original artworks and book drafts by Dame Lynley, including everyone's favourite Hairy Maclary. The exhibition is open from the 29 March to 14 June 2015 at the State Library of Adelaide in North Terrace.
To celebrate the first day of the Lynley Dodd Retrospective exhibition on Sunday the 29th of March, there will be a fun day of entertainment for the whole family. The performer Peter Coombe will delight little people and grown ups, along with the Amazing Drumming Monkeys. There will be face painting, balloons, a petting zoo and story time with the Little Big Book Club. Program details are here
Dame Lynley Stuart Dodd is a New Zealand author of children's books. She is best known for her "Hairy Maclary" series, and its follow-ups, all of which feature animals with rhyming names. She was born in Rotorua and now lives in Tauranga, NZ. Hairy Maclary From Donaldson's Dairy was first published in 1983.
