'Sisters are doing it for themselves' sprang to mind whilst talking with this bubbly creative lady Rene. Along with her sister Lula, they have recently opened a delightful little gallery at the top of Eumundi in the old Heritage Bakery, hence the name "The Hairy Bun"



Rene has been doing really well too, selling her paintings as they 'find their true homes'. People who never even thought about buying a painting are enthralled once inside this gallery. There is just something very special going on there.

Rene's paintings are an interesting mix of media that she has developed over time. Every painting has a intricate story behind it and I guess that's what makes her work so special. There's time, thoughtfulness and insights that have gone into each creation. She also has her signature range means 'beautiful flower' in Greek.



"I paint to music, so each piece includes a saying that makes it even more individual - something has to speak for me to create" she explained. These beautiful paintings have a common theme running through them - women's mental health to a celebration of women's uniqueness.

Rene's creativity doesn't stop at painting. She also built all the furniture used in The Hairy Bun, made from recycled timber. She also sews and makes kid's aprons. the Hairy Bun also stocks a range of jewellery made by local artists - intricate and unique.

This gallery is open Wed - Sat. Wander inside and you feel like you experience a little piece of Greece with colourful geraniums smiling in the sunlight outside. If your lucky, you may even get a cup of tea. So don't be in a hurry, take your time and get to know these lovely sisters, if nothing else, I dare say, you will walk away feeling enlightened and inspired.
