Ahoy there, Adelaide! Looking for a sophisticated, but fun, down to earth, and reliable, bar in the centre of the city? Somewhere that will appeal to all humans from 18 to 80?Hains and Co has been serving up inspired cocktails, world class spirits and wines, tasty snack bites, and top end hand-rolled cigars (if you like to smoke for hours at a time) from its jauntily dressed and nautical-themed bar in the tight but trendy confines of Gilbert Street for about 8 years. If you get around the city a bit you would've noticed the brightly lit bar down the tiny laneway off Currie Street that's always packed with patrons in the evenings all year round. It's always packed for a reason and that's because owner Marcus Mottram and manager Cody know the key to hospitality success is just that – hospitality. They're open every single day except Christmas.

You can always rely on your new favourite bar being open when you're ready for a tipple and a snack with friends as an afternoon treat, mid evening aperitif, or a late-night party starter.Summer is the perfect season for fresh and fruity cocktails. Bursting with flavour with a hidden kick, the summer range of cocktails at Hains and Co might just have you singing sea shanties hailing the ingenuity and craft that goes into everything that comes out of the bar.To wet your whistle, let's run through a few of the summer cocktail faves.

Splice the Mainbrace – topped with crunchy dried citrus and lively looking mint, this dreamboat will bring childhood memories of lime, pineapple, and cream, flooding back but this time with a sea leg worthy shot of rum.

The Yuzu Fancy is Hains and Co's best-selling drink. With the unmistakable floral depth of flavour only Yuzu can bring, topped with mandarin gin and mandarin juice, it's not hard to see why.

The Strawberry Bae is a cool collab with Punch Drinks. Hains and Co adds a bit of spritz to Punch's kegged Never Never Ginache Gin with some sparkling wine. A sweet and sour swipe of powdery garnish adds a thyme back taste to the surprisingly dry strawberry soda. All in all, it's a bright and flavoursome little number.

Seven Seas is a fun little number that packs a flavour punch. Yuzu, lemon, and orange, make for a bright citrusy backdrop to a mix of brandy and rum. I don't even like brandy - but this cocktail is the bomb.Hains and Co is one of those places that will appeal to all humans - from 18 to 80. Fine spirits are a staple here, but there's nothing staple about the selection These guys go way over and above to source rare rums, gins, and whiskies, you just won't find anywhere else. They also run exclusive ticketed masterclasses to demonstrate and share their deep passion and knowledge of the world of fine spirits.Wine lovers and teetotalers are not forgotten with an ever-changing selection and there's a range of bar snacks, including the house special sausage rolls and a range of cheeses to keep you on track.Don't know where to go for the most reliably happy place in the city? Well, now you know, and that bar is called Hains and Co.Hains and Co is tucked away on Gilbert Street in the city off Currie Street and King William Street. They're open from 4pm until 2am every day except Christmas.
