The Hahndorf Winter Lantern Festival launches with an Opening Night Concert on Friday 24 August 2018 from 7-8.30pm at the Hahndorf Memorial Institute, 59 Mount Barker Rd, Hahndorf. Grab your tickets as spaces are limited.

Priced at $10-$15, school-aged children are admitted free. Enjoy a programme of Piazolla, Kats-Chernin, Bach, Mendelssohn, Sinclaire, and Ross Edwards. A group of professional musicians, The Heysen Ensemble aim to perform high-quality chamber music.


Saturday 25 Aug 2018 is the day of the Festival and Parade which will run down 68 Main St, Hahndorf from 1-8.30pm. There'll be Festival Food Stalls, music and kid's activities, followed by a Dusk Fire Lantern Parade. The transformed Hahndorf Academy grounds with its large array of lanterns will also host craft and activities that include shadow puppetry, fire puppetry and mural workshops. The theme being Poetry this year, from 2pm on, there'll be an inaugural poetry prize and poetry performances as well.

Follow the town band and the candlelit lantern parade just before dusk at 6pm, down the main street, then wind its way back at the festival. Live bands will play leading up to a Fire Mural display at 8pm. A warm fun night of family and community not to be missed.
