As a visitor from Sydney, I have been enjoying the sights, sounds and tastes of Adelaide, Barossa Valley and Hahndorf. Hahndorf, 30 minutes drive from Adelaide CBD, is a gorgeous town in the Adelaide Hills begun by German immigrants who settled in the area in the 1830's. The town shops are wonderful and well worth visiting. There is a butcher, a baker and a candle-stick maker and of course, the proverbial cheesemaker, included in this wonderful mix of retailers.

Stunning entry to Hahndorf
Much has been written about Hahndorf so the aim of this article is the accommodation I chose for my two day stay. The
Hahndorf Resort Tourist Park is absolutely beautiful. The Resort's lake is its centrepiece with ducks swimming or waddling about, geese arching their necks and extending their wings, and birds chirping in the trees that surround this serene landscape.

Gorgeous lake to chill out
The Lake View unit in which I stayed, accommodates up to two people. It was very quiet with the exception of some occasional distant traffic noise when I stepped outside onto the deck which overlooks this picturesque lake.

View from the deck
The units were renovated last year. It is very spacious inside and the bedroom has a large window overlooking this stunning lake.

Room with a view
The kitchen is equipped with most of the utensils needed for a basic meal (but why bother cooking when you can walk or drive the short distance to the eateries in the township).

There is a range of accommodation facilities for families and groups but not all the rooms overlook the lake. There is also an area for caravans and camping. The Resort has an on-site restaurant, a swimming pool, a large jumping cushion, a half size tennis court and an oversized chess set. The Resort also has a convention centre, plus a function room and a meeting room that both cater for 50 people.

Sunset over this serene lake
Visiting the town of Hahndorf for a leisurely stroll and trying the various delicacies from the pubs and bakeries and chocolate shops and ice creameries (mmm, need I go on), then returning to my quiet haven at the Resort, re-charged my batteries before returning to the busyness of life.
