Fleetwood Mac fans will be eagerly awaiting the popular band's arrival in Australia soon, with four concerts in Melbourne scheduled for early September. For those wanting to 'warm up' before seeing them live in concert, or for other fans who missed out on tickets, or simply couldn't afford them, there is another option.
Gypsy is the ultimate, authentic Fleetwood Mac Tribute show in Australia. They play at various venues around Melbourne and can be booked for private functions. In late August, they will be performing their amazing tribute show at Musicland in Fawkner. Having seen them the last time they played at this venue, we came away feeling as though we had just seen the real group perform. The resemblance, mannerisms, and movements of the individual group members so closely mirror that of Fleetwood Mac, especially lead singer Stevie Nicks. You will hear their many, many great hits, including Rhiannon, Dreams and Go Your Own Way. You are even welcome to sing along!
The cover band also put on a good show, warming the crowd up before Gypsy come on-stage. As the name suggests, Countdown 80s brings you all the hits of the 1980s, particularly inspired by the iconic T.V show Countdown. You will very likely be reminiscing on the days of your youth while listening to many of their songs.
The venue itself is fantastic if you're after a lively experience. Downstairs, there is room to dance (which most people end up doing by the end of the night). There are also tables for group gatherings - there were a number of birthdays being celebrated that night. If you'd like a quieter, and more private, experience there is also upstairs seating. The Musicland crowd is mainly a middle-aged one of those re-living the hits of their youth, in a fun, friendly and energetic way. There is a downstairs bar and a pizza place in front of the venue.
This tribute show is a definite must for any Fleetwood Mac fans - it is so close to the real thing, much cheaper and in a more intimate venue. Parking options are good, too.
