The Gilbert and Sullivan Society presents 'Guys & Dolls', a musical based on the 1955 romantic comedy film of the same name. The show will premiere at the Arts Theatre on October 1st playing until October 10th. Set in New York City in the mid-20th century, "Guys and Dolls" is populated with gangsters and gamblers, missionary dolls and scantily clad showgirls.
Musically Directed by Martin Cheney with music and lyrics by Frank Loeser, Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows and choreographed by Kerry Hauber. The story follows Gambler Nathan Detroit (Brendan Cooney), who wants to host a big craps game, but can't afford to pay for the location it;s going to be held.
Everybody wants something from someone. Nathan needing $1000 bets Sky Masterson (Jason Bensen) that he cannot persuade Sister Sarah Brown (Sophia Bubner) to accompany him on a trip to Cuba. Sarah agrees but in exchange wants people to join her mission. The problem Nathan shouldn't be seen with Sarah as he's engaged to Miss Adelaide (Jeri Williams), who wishes he would go legit and finally marry her.
