Growing up, chocolate desserts were limited to chocolate crackles and ice magic on vanilla ice cream. The notion of an elaborate chocolate dessert that cost more than dinner would have been completely foreign. Clearly, I had a very deprived childhood.
Luckily for the children (and adults) of Perth, they no longer need to be deprived with the recent news that Guylian Belgian Chocolate Café is set to open its doors on the Terrace, right in the heart of Perth.

Long associated with praline filled shells, the Guylian name now comes alongside dishes with names such as '100% Pure Pleasure' a Belgian chocolate mousse with almond pannacotta and Guylian chocolate icing and 'Passion Temptation' a white chocolate mousse with caramelised passionfruit cream.
It's yet to be seen how extensive the menu will be and if the new café will have the fully licenced,breakfast-lunch-dinner menu that some of the New South Wales restaurants boast, but we do know that they will be offering a range of lunchtime baguettes and waffles, cakes and tarts plus an exclusive Guylian praline ice cream.
The new store is set to open on Monday May 1st at 101 St Georges Terrace and will be giving away 1,000 free coffees during its first week.
Expect to see a sudden influx of drool-inducing photos on Facebook and Instagram as Perthies flood to try out the latest sensation.
