What better way to promote the Melbourne Writers Festival and good food in Melbourne than by combining Guy Grossi's Recipes from My Mother's Kitchen cookbook with the man himself, his mom and a four-course dinner at Guy's very own Merchant Osteria Veneta in the Rialto.
Guy Grossi is an acclaimed Melbourne chef, restaurateur and food personality who specialises in pure Italian cuisine. He is the driving force behind one of Melbourne's oldest restaurants, Grossi Florentino in Bourke Street Melbourne. He also owns Mirka in Fitzroy Street, St Kilda, and Merchant in Collins St and Grossi Trattoria & Wine Bar at the Intercontinental Hotel in Bangkok.
This is touted as a night wholly dedicated to gastronomy and stories of the Grossi family's immigration from North Italy to Melbourne in 1960.
Drawing inspiration from the cook book, Guy and mom will also share their traditional and timeless recipes,and love affair of Italian cooking over the family-style feast.
As guests enjoy wine, share meals and indulge in conversation, Guy and his mother will also be demonstrating the art of making the perfect Gnocchi. The evening is hosted by distinguished food and wine writer Hilary McNevin.
