Presented by OSCA (Open State Contemporary Arts), Guitarchestra is part of the Adelaide Guitar Festival which runs till 25 July 2021. This is a presentation of new experimental music in an ensemble performance like no other. Unique in its celebration of popular culture's obsession with electric guitar, it features 100 South Australian guitarists and bass players of various ages, musical tastes and experience levels.

This exciting world premiere production is the latest in a series of large-scale, community-based works by local SA composer Matthew Timmis. Matthew's other projects have included a rescoring of the classic silent film Nosferatu, along with Car-cacophony, a performance piece for 12 cars and their stereos which appeared at Sydney Festival 2013 for its Parramatta Opening Party. This project is supported by the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, the Adelaide Guitar Festival and Arts South Australia.
