Guided Walk Through the Ancient Olive Groves at Gilberton (Parks 7 and 8)

Let Adelaide Park Lands Preservation President Shane Sody guide you on an easy ramble among ancient olive groves that are uniquely situated close to Adelaide's CBD.

Learn all about why the olive grove is here and how it ended up sandwiched between the lanes of the major Adelaide city ring road. Find walking trails that the public doesn't know about and see some of the largest pines and eucalypts in the parklands. The story of why the first permission to plant olive trees was granted and who it was granted to will surprise you.

The city council has plans for the future of the olive groves and who better to hear them from, but the group tasked with protecting, preserving, and promoting our wonderful green garland?

This interesting walk through one of the park lands most productive areas is on Sunday the 20th June 2021. Walkers should meet at the corner of Melbourne Street and, Mann Terrace North Adelaide for the walk which commences at 2 pm and concludes at 3.15 pm.

Registration for the walk is free for APA members and $7.50 for others (concession holder price is $5).

Register here.
