Recently opened at Morphett Street in Adelaide, Guangzhou Cuisine is where you can enjoy a good range of Chinese-style dishes. Service was efficient, and our dishes did not take long to arrive after we had placed our order.

While not apparent from the name of the dish, the Premium Free-Range Chicken is served as a cold dish. The skin of the chicken had a distinctive yellow colour and the succulent flesh was not difficult to eat off the bones. Spring onions in oil accompanied the dish to serve as a dipping sauce.

The seafood in the Steamed Seafood Tofu with Lotus Leaf was fresh and cooked just right. The soft chunks of tofu provide a contrast of texture and the sauce subtly enhances the flavour of the seafood. Take care when enjoying this dish as it comes out steaming hot.

Their Salt and Pepper Spareribs were fried to golden brown, with the crisp exterior setting off the flesh nicely. However, we thought the salt and pepper flavour could have been a bit more pronounced. A bed of salad greens provided an element of freshness to the dish.

The Dry-Fried String Beans had a vibrant green colour and was cooked in a way that they still retained a bit of bite. An ample amount of garlic gave the dish a garlicky flavour. A hint of heat was provided by the chillies.

The portion size of the Garlic Lettuce was generous. While we thought the lettuce may have been a bit overcooked, sufficient garlic was included to make the dish deserving of its name. The sauce tied everything together and ensured the dish was not too dry.

When we visited, complimentary orange slices were offered to finish our meal. If you are looking for a place to enjoy Chinese cuisine away from the busy section of Gouger Street, consider giving Guangzhou Cuisine a try.
