La Trobe University is hosting an online event that addresses the growing undercurrent of anti-Asian sentiment in contemporary Australia. REGISTER now to attend the FREE online Growing up Asian in Australia event on Wednesday 8 July 2020 from 5-6.30pm. Registrations are essential.

COVID-19 has brought a significant increase of anti-Asian racism, causing a growing feeling of uneasiness among the Asian-Australia population. Three of Australia's most talented, perceptive and influential writers and thinkers have been invited to reflect on their own experiences of growing up Asian in Australia; racism in their personal and professional lives and exploring the strengths and weaknesses of our multicultural society.

Moderated by Dr Rebecca Strating, acting Executive Director of La Trobe Asia and a Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at La Trobe University; speakers on the day are as follows.

Benjamin Law - Australian author, screenwriter and broadcaster. Creator and co-writer of the award-winning SBS TV series, The Family Law
Tim Soutphommasane - Author and Professor of Practice (Sociology and Political Theory) at the University of Sydney
Alice Pung - Award-winning writer, editor, teacher and lawyer.
