Event:
Wicked wicking beds and upcycled planting boxes
Do you live in a small space and feel that you don't have much space for a garden? Think again because you can have a garden which can feed you and your family on a tiny amount of land, or even in pots and other vessels.

You can learn how to grow enough organic food on your plot to provide for 50-75% of your family's fruit and vegetable needs in a small back yard. You will also learn how to make self-watering planter boxes which can be put on a balcony or any semi-outdoor space, along with plenty of practical tips about backyard gardening.

You can attend both sessions for $60 or just one session for $40 (concessions apply) so you can choose which topic suits your own gardening-knowledge needs.

Session 1: Build a communal wicking bed in a recycled bath tub to be donated to Annerley Community Hub.

Session 2: Make a self-watering planter box for growing all kinds of vegetables. The box stores around 10 litres of water so no need watering for several days even weeks.

Roman Spur from Spurtopia knows his way around a garden and has been teaching these workshops to people who feel like they don't have the skills or space to have a thriving food garden. He has a beautiful garden which feeds himself and his family and he loves passing on garden knowledge to others.

Annerley Community Hub is a non profit which opens it's doors to all people who need a bit of support or who want a space outside of their own home to relax and connect with others. They provide lots of free activities for those who aren't able to afford to partake in paid programs and your ticket price to this event goes back to assisting people who need a bit of extra support.
