The Barossa Valley is among many flourishing wine regions in South Australia renowned for the award-winning wines the region produces. To discover what this region has to offer there is no better way than with an organised wine tour by Groovy Grape Getaways. Operating across Australia, Groovy Grape Getaways centralise their SA wine adventures around the Barossa Valley, only a 30 minute drive out of Adelaide. A full day tour with Groovy Grape includes a visit to four popular Barossa wineries; Jacob's Creek, Kies, Richmond Grove and Seppeltsfield, while also including a satisfying barbeque feast prepared by your talented Groovy Grape driver/tour guide/chef.

Each winery offers a selection of their cellar door wines with some only exclusively sold at the cellar door. The famous Jacob's Creek, a vineyard dating back over 160 years, is widely recognised for housing a variety of reds, whites and moscatos and features collections such as the Classic, Moscato, Three Vines, Cool Harvest and the more prestigious Super Premium. The tour also encompasses a visit to Kies winery, a smaller family owned and operated boutique. While you're there be sure to try Kies' specialty frozen port and sparkling moscato. They taste delicious but are only exclusive to the cellar door.

In addition to the cellar tour tastings, the tour incorporates visits to South Australian tourist attractions, the world's largest rocking horse in Gumeracha and the Whispering Wall in the Barossa. Don't worry if you're unfamiliar with these sites as your Groovy Grape guide is well equipped with local knowledge and will soon have you up to speed with the region's history.

If you are looking to sample something a little sweeter on your wine tastings, Richmond Grove's Muscat will satisfy the taste buds with rich flavours of orange zest and Christmas pudding. The winery is situated in an old style chateau surrounded by immaculate gardens, perfect for an afternoon drink in the upcoming warmer weather. The iconic Seppeltsfield winery is famous for its Vintage Tawny Port collection. The art of winemaking at this estate is a long running tradition and makes it the only winery in the world to release a 100 year old single vintage wine each year. Tastings at Seppeltsfield include the infamous Vintage Tawny Port collection where guests can sample the 21 year old port. A sample of the 100 year old vintage is available for those interested but at a pricey cost of $50.

So whether you're a devout wine connoisseur or just prefer to enjoy a glass occasionally, the Groovy Grape Getaway wine tour makes for a fun-filled, enjoyable day.

An all day wine tour will cost $85 per person and includes pick up and drop off in Adelaide's city centre, but look out for occasional specials on Scoop on and Group on and you may be able to grab yourself a bargain.
