New Heritage Listed Bar in Brisbane
As l ventured to my usual city cafe Le Bon Choix, where l normally bliss out on an almond croissant and a wonderfully yummy raspberry jam doughnut, I made my way to the very busy counter to place my order.
So just to pull you up to speed dear reader, as l am a struggling writer who is financially challenged at times,I ordered my usual and was advised by the very efficient mademoiselle that l needed to spend a minimum of $10 to use the eftpos machine. I didn't want to buy a loaf of bread or make another purchase, so with my tail between my legs, l said to madamoseille 'please serve someone else', and l embarrassingly curtailed out the establishment door.
The eftpos up-selling was as infuriating as the instigation of charging consumers for a bag to carry their purchases! I decided this embarrassing situation was never to befall me again, so I marched down Queen Street, to the Heritage listed National Bank, and withdrew cash from my account!
Walking from the bank, alas l hear Ella Fitzgerald and l look to where the music is coming from. I notice large double doors leading to the most ambient Heritage listed bar l have seen for sometime. In fact, l have not witnessed anything like this bar in Brisbane, with its pressed metal ceiling, oak floor and marble fireplace - what a find for a weary writer seeking a great coffee.
Speaking of coffee, this coffee is Toby's Estate, and the beans are freshly ground here. A must try, l am assured by the Gresham award-winning 'Barista of the Year', Ryan. This coffee is sourced from premium beans from two plantations in Panama, by Toby the owner of Toby's Estate himself.
As l munch on the delightful basil and balsamic bruschetta, l realise that everything in life happens for a reason, and my eftpos incident led me to this wonderful bar and cafe.
I will be returning for an amazing Hendricks Gin cocktail with some fellow bar connoisseurs.
